In an effort to encourage more people to complete forms and make payments online, Inland Revenue have announced that customers will no longer be able to make cheque payments - or drop off any returns or forms - at Westpac Branches from 01 October 2014. This change in service will effect all Tax, GST and PAYE transactions.

And while they will still accept payments, returns and forms via the post - they will, also effective 01 October, require all payments posted to be received by Inland Revenue on or before the payments due date. (View the IRD update here)

At Crystal Payroll we think the best way to ensure your PAYE returns and payments reach the IRD correctly completed and on time (thereby avoiding the possibility of late payment penalties) is to simply let us manage your PAYE for you. Next week the kids will be home from school for yet more school holidays, meaning  that some of your employees may need to take a few days leave to keep their little ones entertained.

We were all set to launch our awesomely delightful new look-and-feel this week but, unfortunately, during last minute testing we found a couple of very minor issues and decided to delay the launch. Hopefully these tiny bugs should only take a little while to sort out - as it's vital to us that our customers have only the best possible online payroll system available to them. So, once we have a few days of additional testing completed, we will announce a new launch date, hopefully in the very near future. We're still very excited, as we know you'll love it when you get to use it.

While the main part of the system, the Employer Login area, will be made available soon we thought you might like to check out the beautiful new look from an Employees perspective before you make the leap yourself.

Keen to give it a try? You can make the switch it seconds. Just login via your normal Employer Login and go to Settings/Help, then Company Settings, then Payroll Settings and choose the Advanced button near the bottom of the page. Simply find the 'Activate new version for employee login' option within Other Settings, tick the box and remember to click 'Submit Changes'. And that's it, all done. Now when any of your Employees login they will immediately enjoy our newly refreshed pages.

Not currently using the 'Employee Login' facility? No problem. It's easy to set up and it's free - included in all of Crystal Payroll's service options. Just visit our 'How to set up Employee Access' support page for easy instructions. Employee Access allows your employees to view their own current and historic payslips, print off a leave application and access a wide range of reports specific to themselves only.

And remember, changing over to the refreshed system will also be optional. You'll be able to choose when (or even if) you want to give it a try.

Progress on our refresh of Crystal Payroll's User Interface is continuing smoothly. Soon we will be able to share with you these exciting enhancements and make your choice of payroll systems even easier to use - and even smarter for use on smaller screens (like a tablet or smartphone) so that you can be even more mobile. Xero's annual get-together for Accountants, Bookkeepers and Add-On partners is happening in Auckland very soon - on Thu/Fri 20/21 February in fact.
